SPARC – Space Law Research Centre

Project Abstract

The Space Law Research Centre (SPARC) is the first Space Law research group in Portugal. Created within CEDIS, the research institute of NOVA School of Law (CEDIS – Centro de Investigação & Desenvolvimento sobre o Direito e a Sociedade), its main purposes include researching and promoting awareness of topics and issues related to Space Law and to further develop a Space Law community in Portugal. Therefore, in addition to the research aspect, SPARC organizes several other events in this area, with a national and international scale, such as courses and workshops, contributing to the connection between the several different communities related to space activities, namely, the legal, business and regulatory. SPARC also has as a particular focus to write and publish texts and articles in Portuguese, since that is something that is currently lacking in the Portuguese-speaking academia.
