Sérgio Coimbra Henriques, CEDIS researcher and PhD candidate at NOVA Law School, has recently begun his research work as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, under the supervision of Professor Ralph Brubaker (https://law.illinois.edu/faculty-research/faculty-profiles/ralph-brubaker/), studying how the interest of corporations can be deformed by the verification of financial difficulties and the threat of corporate bankruptcy, not only by addressing the legal solutions that different jurisdictions offer to this problem, but also by understanding the interests of different stakeholders according to how those financial difficulties directly affect them and their incentives to act.

For this purpose, our researcher was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant by the Fulbright Commission. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is widely known for its leading status in both Law and Economics and Bankruptcy Law, counting with extremely distinguished members of Faculty in those fields, such as Thomas S. Ulen, Charles J. Tabb, Ralph Brubaker and Robert M. Lawless.
